Hi Lovelies!
Over the past 2 months, we have had around 400 new ladies join our online community or follow us so, I thought it would be a good opportunity to tell you all a little about me!
I’m Janine and I’m a wife,(a pastor’s wife actually), and a mum of 3 gorgeous, and cheeky girls!
They are my world!
For years I worked for the federal government and I loved it but one day I knew the door was closed and it was time for me to move ahead and explore my creative passions.
When I left my old job, I had no idea what I was going to do. I am completely multi-passionate and so I gave myself the freedom to try a few things. I gained a Diploma in Business Management, a Diploma in Beauty Therapy, a Diploma in Makeup Artistry, then opened my own drama school and created my own organic clothing line “Cheeky Little Coconut”.
I’ve also worked in a library and in a box office and as a teachers aide and drama teacher. I studied a degree in primary/music teaching, but once I had my youngest daughter decided I wanted to be able to work from home, be my own boss and build something of my own.
So Roar & Foam was born!
Way back in November 2016, sick of poor customer service and getting my online orders in clear plastic bags, I had this idea of creating a shopping community within the online clothing world.
I visualised a gorgeous little boho shop that women would find online and then could come visit if they were on holidays for chats and bookclub evenings and to listen to a bit of live music.
A place where other creatives could meet up and share their dreams.
Since then I’ve been on such an amazing journey trying to make this all a reality and I'm still working on it. I’ve had to learn it all from scratch, marketing, designing a website, managing and ordering stock, finances, the whole thing whilst juggling the demands of young children, our ministry and general life.
Some days and months have been super tough but I'm still fighting for it.
The other huge part of who I am, is singing and music. I love everything from classical to 80’s. I play piano very badly! Over the past 9 years, I’ve studied opera and classical voice. I’ve taught kids and given them recording experiences, I've performed in concerts and fundraisers and raised money for people in need, most recently over $1250 for people with disabilities and $1000 for a domestic violence refuge.
This is something I am so, so proud of!
Last year I got out of my own way and released 2 CD’s, worked with a string quartet(who have worked with Andre Bocelli and Guy Sebastian and Eminem for goodness sakes), and held an online father’s day concert that was broadcast to nursing homes around Australia right in the midst of Covid lockdown.
Then there is my love for pilates. After having my 3rd daughter, my pelvic floor was in pieces, I had hip pain, back pain and generally felt terrible. Pilates has made me better and stronger than ever and I just absolutely love it.
Last year I became 95% vegan. I’ve been a vegetarian most of my life but this means I now eat vegan almost all of the time but occasionally I’ll have something non vegan.
I’m kind, pretty bold, determined, sometimes stubborn, generous to a fault and I love seeing my friends achieve their goals. I'm definitely a cheerleader! My faith is the most important thing in my life and I love God. I feel like I live my life constantly stepping out in faith. I'm not afraid to fail, I've failed so many times but I keep getting back up. I just keep fighting and facing life's challenges.
I love horses and nature, I love the beach and I love the mountains. I love painting, writing, good books, good coffee, and of course beautiful clothes!!!
I’ve never been to Uluru but it’s at the top of my bucket list.
So that's a little about me. Well let's be honest it's an essay. But I'd love to hear about you! Let me know 3 words you would use to describe yourself! Let’s get to know each other better.
Lots of Love Janine xxxxx
